General Conditions of Free Passage Boheme for the Indian Gaol Staff and other Indian employés in the Hongkong Government

The following officers only are eligible:-

Officers on the Permanent Establishment, who are domiciled in India.

The scheme is subject to the following conditions:

After a period of 6 years' service the officer may be granted 8 months' leave on half pay, subject to the exigencies of the Service.

2nd. class Passages to Calcutta, without food, will be provided by the Government, in steamers to be selected by the Govern- ment, to all officers with salaries not less than $480 a year, and to the Indian Senior Warders,

The Indian Gaol Staff, other than Senior Warders, will be

provided with Deck passages to Calcutta without food.

During the year in which leave is taken and the preceding year, any leave taken, beyond leave on medical grounds, will be

deducted from the 8 months' half pay leave.

The number of free passages, in the case of married officers,

who are permitted by Government to have their families in Hong kong, will be limited to 2 full fares, any additional passage money being defrayed by the pfficer concerned.

In case of an officer's death, his family will be given a free

passage, without food, to Calcutta, the number of full fares

not to exceed 1†.

Provided no expense to the Government is involved, officers

affected by this scheme will receive acting pay when an acting

appointment is necessary.
